Modern Day Women Can Identify With The Women In Biblical Times

1. Miriam, Sister Of Moses

Miriam played a huge role in the lives of God’s people. While the Israelite were enslaved, the Egyptians were murdering and capturing newborn baby Israelite boys. The future leader of God’s people was Moses, and his survival depended on the strength and courage of his older sister Miriam. She placed him in a basket on the Nile River, to be cast off in hopes that he would survive. Later, Miriam became the leader of the Hebrew women once they escaped. (Exodus 2:1-10)

2. Dinah

Dinah’s story is a tragic one. Nonetheless, it is one that gives women of today an important lesson.  As the Bible tells, Dinah went by herself into a city that she was unfamiliar with. She was to visit other women within the city, but made the grave mistake of going on her own. The Bible says that Shechem, the son of the local ruler, took her secretly and had sexual intercourse with her by force. It is important that women be careful in everything that they do. (Genesis 34)

3. Queen Of Sheba

The example of the queen of Sheba shows the power and intelligence of women in Biblical times. While visiting King Solomon, the queen exerts her power by speaking and acting at the level of the king. She clearly knows her worth, and thus is a fine example of how women today should start treating themselves with dignity again.   (1 Kings 10:1-13 )
