Home With The Lord
On Friday morning, February 19th, the critically acclaimed novelist, most well known for her American Classic novel, “To Kill A Mockingbird,” Nelle Harper Lee has gone home to be with the Lord. Publisher HarperCollins said, “She died peacefully in her sleep” at her home.
“To Kill A Mockingbird,” was published in the 1960’s, and is one of the most widely read American novels of the 20th century. It went on to sell over 40 million books worldwide, winning a Pulitzer prize in 1961. Lee won a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2007.
Micael Morrison, head of HarperCollins, said in a statement, “The world knows Harper Lee was a brilliant writer but what many don’t know is that she was an extraordinary woman of great joyfulness, humility and kindness. She lived her life the way she wanted to — in private — surrounded by books and the people who loved her.”
