Duckling’s Bond With A Baby
When Tyler Young was about a year old, his parents got him a baby duckling. They named the duck “Beaker,” but Tyler couldn’t form the word yet, so he just ended up calling him “Bee,” and it stuck. The pair has been the cutest inseparable duo ever since.
Tyler and his feathery friend share just about everything. Tylers mom, Jennifer Young insists, “They did everything together, play, eat nap, etc.” They can hardly stand being apart from each other if Tyler is eating he will sneakily save bits of his meal for his persistent buddy. If Tyler takes a bath, Bee wants to join him; and they can literally play together for hours on end.
Bee the duck, will even go to lengths of protecting his young friend if he perceives something is wrong. Tylers mom, Jennifer Young, explains “Bee is very protective of his boy. If I am holding Tyler and he’s crying, Bee is at my feet quacking, making sure he’s not hurt,” Young says. T and Bee as they have collectively come to be called, have the run of their Texas home- at times to the point of descending into chaos. Their bedroom has become one of their favorite places to create unfathomable amounts of pandemonium. Tylers mom saying “they can tear apart a room in 5 minutes flat.”
Despite the damage the dynamic duo can do, Young admits it is one of the cutest friendships she’s ever seen. Always keeping ducks as pets, but as outdoors pets mainly; so it never really occurred to her that they might make good house pets as well. “At first, I laughed out loud when I learned people kept ducks inside wearing a diaper, but Bee is just as loyal, smart, and sweet as any dog or cat.” These days Young is quacking a different tune, seeing the budding relationship Tyler and Bee have. “As far as Tyler knows, having a pet duck is the thing to have,” says Young. “He loves his Beaker, and he will tell you just that if you ask him.”
