Modesty, Decency And Courtesy Shouldn’t Be Shunned BUT PRAISED!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.-Romans 12: 2

Today’s fashion industry has continuously integrated “sex appeal” into almost every category of their fashion senses. In other words, you aren’t considered fashionable if you’re not wearing something sexy… which is totally CRAZY!!

You can be fashionable and modest at the same time!

Modern day Christians should be careful to not fall under this type of influence. As 1 Timothy 2: 9 states:

“I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes”

Notice that the Biblical scripture does not specifically detail the form of clothing, but rather, gives a Christian Principal as to how we must choose to adorn ourselves. In fact, God WANTS us to feel as beautiful as we really are.

The second point within the verse of 1 Tim. 2:9 is that of the costly fashion. If it is easy for some Christians to obtain lavish jewelry, they must be careful to not over-do and cover themselves with their wealth. Remember that we have a humble God, and therefore, should imitate his humbleness.

A Christian must remember that the way a person dresses an important part of our testimony. Don’t worry if people think what you’re is out-of-date. In fact, you may be the next Christian that brings decency back into fashion!
