Delight Thyself In The Lord, And He Will Give You The Desires Of Your Heart!

Shouldn’t God and family be first and foremost in our life . . . at all times?

How many of you would do anything, that is not sinful in nature, of course, for your children? I would endeavor to say that I’d get an “Amen” to that! Children are truly precious.

Throughout the Bible, the promise of a birth of a child is one of the most precious things that a man and woman could possibly hear. Just the mere pledge of future generations was a blessing. The thought that their seed would prosper, from generation to generation, was invaluable. Think about it. We are all descendants of 2 people—Adam and Eve! Do you think that they ever imagined that their seed would flourish, for as long as it has?

It’s a great responsibility and honor to think that you and your spouse partook in the creation of your beloved miracle(s).

Well, we ARE the children of God. He is our Heavenly Father. We too are precious to Him! He loves us so much, that He died for your sins and for mine so that we can live for all eternity with Him!

Psalm 37:4 (KJV)
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

That’s right. God wants to give you the things that you long for, just as you would your children! Delight in Him, daily! Pray to Him and worship Him everywhere you go. Speak of His goodness and mercy to everyone you come in contact with. Live in His presence . . . always, and He WILL give you the desires of your heart!

As a parent, you always provide for the needs of your children. That is a given and a great responsibility, for many reasons; but regardless of the obstacles that may come your way, you are sure to provide a roof over their head; shoes on their feet; clothes on their back; and food on the table. You will do without, if you must, in order to provide for them.

You will eat less, in order to give that second serving to your child. You saved money for a new ensemble that you’ve had your eye on for a while, but you just found out that your child’s choir will be competing in the nationals; so of course, your outfit will have to wait, since your earnings will now be your child’s spending money. You can do without. You will do whatever it takes in order to give to your child—emotionally and materialistically—what they desire. Why? Because you love them.

Of course, we have limitations as to what we can and cannot do for our children when it comes to belongings. We may not always have the financial resources, but our children have been well trained, that they understand that sometimes those wants cannot be met; but they recognize that their needs always are, and are truly appreciative of it.

God, however, has NO limitations! He can provide for us even for our wants, simply because He loves us.

Matthew 7:11 (KJV)
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

I remember, years ago, I stopped at one of my favorite retailers. They had 3 beautiful handbags: a brown one; an orange one; and a pink one. They had beautiful leather rosettes, made up of many, many petals, but each bag was different in size and shape. I saw them, and they were over $100 each. I thought that I’d wait until they went on sale. Surely, I’d be able to afford 1 of them. Well, I did not return for months and months. It seems as though a year may have approached. Anyway, since it was going to be my birthday, I thought that I’d buy myself a little something. I returned and went to the purse/bag section, “knowing” that surely, they’d be gone! All 3 were still there, and I bought them all for less than $75! I realized that God gave me something that I really wanted! How much more does He provide for my needs? Glory be to God!

If you’ve been longing for a new job because your current employer doesn’t appreciate you and only takes you for granted; recognizing that you do the work of 5 people and get paid for one; and you have to endure constant humiliation, despite your hard work and loyalty, but cannot quit until another opportunity arises, then pray for your want. He will provide. If you’ve been desiring a new car because yours has been breaking down for quite some time, but you can only afford to fix it as you go, don’t think that He won’t give it to you. He sees your need. If you have been wanting to buy a home because you recognize that you’ve paid thousands of dollars towards rent, and you could have owned by now, then ask Him to supply.

If you have been suffering ailments for years, ask Him for your healing. He can make you whole! If you have longed for companionship because living alone for the rest of your life is starting to seem lonely, then ask Him to lead you to your spouse. There is someone for you! If you have always wanted children but have not been able to conceive with your spouse, then pray that He will allow you to be a loving parent someday. He can make it come to pass, no matter the circumstances!

Psalm 139:17-18 (KJV)
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Did you read that, thoroughly? God’s thoughts towards you, are innumerable! He thinks of you always and is concerned with your well being. Just as you would be with your own children.

Psalm 36:7 (KJV)
7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

His love for you is unfailing and loyal. He is wholly devoted to you, as you are to your children.

Psalm 103:13 (KJV)
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

He loves you, with compassion and will always show mercy, when you seek Him.

Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Praise God! Yes . . . He always supplies our needs! He IS a loving and merciful God!
