Jennifer Lawrence is donating $2 million to Kosair Children’s Hospital, a hospital whose dedication to curing heart illnesses has long been celebrated. On top of this, she is challenging communities to step up and match her donation!

The Louisville-native Lawrence family has made it a tradition to visit children at the hospital for Christmas.

“I think the Christmas visits are what really set it off. You can see how it touches the parents when Jen goes in and signs posters and gives them the posters and it makes me really proud, I know it really touches her too,” said Jennifer’s father, Gary Lawrence.

“I’m so proud to announce that Jennifer Lawrence and the Jennifer Lawrence Family Foundation are committing a $2 million challenge grant,” said Lynnie Meyer, Chief Development Officer of Norton Healthcare.

The money Jennifer is donating will go to a unit that’s supposed to be created that will provide private rooms for children recovering from serious heart procedures. The sector will be named the “Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit”.
