Julia Price, like many women out there, was out for a morning jog. Also, as is what happens with other women, her day was nearly derailed by some catcalls made by a bystander.

Her day would have been an upsetting one, but when she receives support from an unexpected source, the encounter turned into a kind thing that is worthy of sharing.

“I heard an older man yelling loudly enough for me to hear through my headphones. ‘Sexy lady, hey hey hey sexy lady!’ He kept screaming it and I decided to just ignore him and keep running,”

She tried to ignore the man, but that only proved to make the situation worse. Although he was well-dressed and looked to be from a white-collar job, the man’s actions were everything BUT professional. He shouted expletives at Julia including one really bad word that prompted her pull off her headphones as she readied to confront the man.

Before Julia walked over to confront the guy, a young boy that was out for a walk with his mom and baby sister did what no other grown man would have thought of.

“Yesterday I shared one of the most moving moments of my life, having no idea that James was actually a symbol of hope for all of us. I think that there’s a part of him that we all have in ourselves – that compassion and courage to stand up for others fearlessly, no matter what that looks like. I think we can look to James as an inspiration the next time we have an opportunity to be the brave one and help someone else. Thank you for your thoughts and support of the little love warrior. I hope in some way he can feel how many people he has inspired. I hope he goes on to lead many movements and to protect all of his “sisters” and of course his “brothers” as well. Thank you for sharing his message and celebrating his spirit with me!”

“Hey. That is not nice to say to her and she didn’t like you yelling at her,” the boy said. “You shouldn’t do that because she is a nice girl and I don’t let anyone say mean things to people. She’s a girl like my sister and I will protect her.”

The boy’s words had a deep effect on the stranger and Julia.

“The man was immediately embarrassed and started gathering his lunch to leave,” she wrote. “I asked the mother if I could hug the little boy (his name is James) and I told him how grateful I was for him. He just shrugged and said ‘Well I just wanted to make sure your heart was okay.’”

Julia gave a shout out to all the parents who are raising their children the right way, and to the ones that are teaching their young boys to respect women the right way!

Thank you so much to the mothers and fathers who are raising the next generation to be brave and courageous, and to be little earth angels for all. I am so touched.”
