Comparing Olympic Game Venues, Then Vs. Now
The Olympic Games are held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating by occurring every four years but two years apart. Every two years, the whole world comes together in a single city to cheer on their best athletes. After the races are won and the medals are handed out, the city returns to its original status.
However, the arenas and infrastructure continue to exist for many many years. Oftentimes the upkeep for these massive stages are just too much for the cities. They are left abandoned as a result.
