John Gibson’s Wife Interviews With CNN and Buzzfeed about Suicide!
Pastor John Gibson was one of the many names that were exposed on Ashely Madison when the company was hacked last month. Pastor Gibson was a teacher at a baptist seminary in New Orleans and tragically took his own life. Christi Gibson, his wife of 30 years told CNN:
“It was a moment that life doesn’t prepare you for. I had to call my kids. How do you tell your kids that their dad is gone and that he took his own life?”
Authorities in Toronto say that there have been at least two suicides linked to the Ashley Madison hack.
John Gibson is survived by his wife and their two children, Trey and Callie.
Christi told CNN that John’s suicide note explained all of the hardships that he was dealing with, particularly the shame that came about regarding Ashley Madison. Buzzfeed reached out to Christi for more information about John:
“He talked about depression. He talked about having his name on there, and he said he was just very, very sorry. What we know about him is that he poured his life into other people, and he offered grace and mercy and forgiveness to everyone else, but somehow he couldn’t extend that to himself.”
Despite everything that Pastor John Gibson was going through, there is no doubt that he will be missed. His family and students have all expressed how much they will miss him. Christi added:
“We all have things that we struggle with, but it wasn’t so bad that we wouldn’t have forgiven it…Nothing is worth the loss of a father and a husband, and a friend.”
