This Soldier Fought To Keep The Military Dog That Saved His Life

Layka has got to be one of the bravest souls out there. While serving in the military in Afghanistan, the combat dog was shot four times at point-blank range. Despite her wounds she still managed to subdue the shooter, while saving her handler and other members of the military. After seven long hours of surgery and an amputation of one leg, she emerged from the surgical room alive. Her handler, Staff Sgt. Julian McDonald, fought hard to adopt her and she’s now become a part of his family.
