God Did It
When Steve Harvey, first made his incredible case of mistaken identity last week during the Miss Universe event, it gave many around the world a good laugh. When announcing the Victor of the event, he accidentally named Miss Columbia the winner when the title actually belonged to Miss Phillippines. The confusion sparked a great deal of criticism, outrage, and controversy- along with an outpouring of internet memes and gif images to boot. After releasing his apologies to the appropriate parties, Steve further offered a possible explanation for the goof up. His excuse? God did it.
The 59-year-old host of Family Feud and the Steve Harvey Show explained to the Hollywood Reporter, that he had been previously praying, “asking God to increase his global persona.” His prayers certainly seemed to have been fulfilled that night as the Miss Universe show is a global event watched by millions of people around the world.
In regards to the unusually way his prayers were answered, Steve said, “I don’t appreciate the route he took. You’ve got to be real specific with God, it was a challenging night for sure.” Prior to the airing of the live show, he prophetically tweeted “Look at where God brought me #MissUniverse2015” not knowing at the time what a big deal of discussion his mistake would become.
At the closing of one of his stand-up comedy shows in Las Vegas, he told the audience “Im just a living witness that you can be an imperfect soldier and still be in the army fighting for God Almighty. Don’t you think you got to be perfect, cause I ain’t.”
