11-year-old Naomi Oakes has been fighting Myeloid Leukemia since June and won’t be able to attend her favorite artist’s concert any time soon. She is currently undergoing treatment and will have to remain in the hospital for up to nine months. Meaning, she will not be able to use the tickets she received in Christmas for Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert.
Oakes is calling her Leukemia “Bad Blood” in homage to Taylor Swifts latest single.
Taylor Swift took notice to a video labeled “Naomi’s Bad Blood” on YouTube which explains Oakes’s diagnosis and how Swift’s “Bad Blood” has become her “fight song.” Oakes’s family hoped the video would attract Swift’s attention and help publicize their fundraising efforts on social media which they tagged #TeamNaomi.
Seeing Oakes’s strong fight towards Leukemia, Swift steps in and does something remarkable.
With several donations adding up to $50,000 on Oakes’s Go Fund Me page,
she also left a heartfelt message to the brave 11-year-old.
“To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family,” Swift wrote with her donation.
Naomi Oakes’s reaction when finding what Taylor Swift had done she couldn’t contain her excitement. Her family documented it and shared it on YouTube.
“I can barely breathe … I seriously think I’m going to pass out right now” said Oakes as she read the message from Swift.
Swift is known for her random acts of kindness. Earlier in 2015, she also helped a fan pay her student loans, sending the fan a check for $1,989 in honor of her latest album. Along with many other random acts of kindness which involves many heart felt visits to fans fighting their own battles.
